Monday Poetry Train - Stripper

She is there
Elle est là
On Stage
Sur la scène
Putting on a show
Donnant un spectacle
Taking her clothes off
Enlevant ses vêtements
Taking your money
Prenant votre argent
And what do you do else to respond
Et que lui donner vous en réponse
Lust over her
Qu'avoir envie d'elle
Forget that she is a human being
Oublier qu'elle est humaine
Being unrespectfull
Lui manquer de respect
Taking her for a piece of meat
La prendre pour une pièce de viande
Wanting more than she can offer
Voulant plus qu'elle peut offrir
But at the end of the night
Mais à la fin de la nuit
None of you
Aucun de vous
ARe happy
N'est heureux

Interesting, Jill. You know, my feelings on the subject of exotic dancers/strippers have changed over the years. Especially since there is a whole pole-dancing exercise movement going! It seems odd that the porn industry wasn't changed too much by the feminist movement - or was it? I'm beginning to think there is a new breed of women out there who are not victims, who might feel a sense of control by stripping. There is a widespread female sexual fantasy that involves exhibitionism.

Your poem does paint the dancer as the dominant character in the exchange, which I like.

Well, you always do impress me,Julia! It is great that this has brought up this. I think feminist has change it, but it is still hard to find a more romantic porn because it is less frequent(and I think women are just starting to look more frequently at them!)

    Susan, what a coincidence!
